GOLDEN WEEK

2026.05.02

Hello, blog! Today is the first day of the GOLDEN WEEK! I have been super excited for this week.

TODAY’s ROUTINE

  • Woke up
  • Ate more protein yogurt (I LOVE PROTEIN YOGURT!)
  • Began playing a Polish game named Politics The Game (Incredibly fun. You defeat your opponents by dropping manure on them, doing press conferences about Polish bull milk, eliminating half of them by sending in the metal version of the Pope, persuading sea tubes to join capitalism.)
  • Took a shower
  • Napped for 5 hours (I think i had a nightmare too…? Clearly not a good one since I can’t even remember it. 20% on IMDREAMb.)
  • Walked to the Aeon’s to pick up some onigiris, protein yogurt, chicken sticks.
  • Played Politics The Game until the break of dawn.

  • KARAOKE W/ TAIWANESE FRIENDS (and a mix of European friends)

At Karaoke yesterday, I sang probably half of the songs because people kept on queuing songs they just wanted to see performed. This was no biggie to me, since I love singing, but I am no good singer. During one of these instances, I attempted my darnedest to sing this BTS song since Emi-san just wanted to dance to it:

Watching it now, we were a pretty good combo. I might be canceling my memo’d contract for this new thing. Emi and Maya. Em-Ma?

I said yesterday that the highlight was singing “Dance, Dance” by Fall Out Boy, but in reality, it was when the Taiwanese men were singing Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. I wish I caught that one on camera. However you imagine it is exactly how it sounded. Luckily, I did capture them singing “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction on voice memos:

OMG… JUST AS I WAS INPUTTING IT, APPLE DECIDED TO JUST DELETE IT IM SO ANNOOYYED IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOOD. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE THIS LITERALLY WHYYYYYYYYYYY. Before I knew it was PERMANENTLY DELETED FOR NO REASON, I wrote “This is the best thing I have ever recorded.” IT WAS SO FUNNY… I’m gonna cry myself to bed now. Golden week ruined. This is probably how the people of Jinan, China felt after the Japanese destroyed all their artifacts.

Anyway, this was all for my classmates Zaneta-san and Ellie-san because yesterday was their last. Thank you guys for making the classroom environment so fun! I’ll miss you guys.

    LEE-SAN
This Lee-san who is also leaving, was telling me about Singapore, where he’s from:

    • Japan is DIRTIER than Singapore! In Singapore, gum is banned because it’s used as vandalism. One time, an American guy vandalized using gum, and his punishment? Six whoopings on the butt. The US government vouched for him, so the Singaporean government reduced his sentence by a humble 2 whoopings. He received 4 butt whoopings for putting gum on a wall. Most effective way to stop vandals if you ask me.
    • In Singapore, every race learns their mother language + English. English is the base language and their mother language is a means to stay connected with their roots. Indian people learn Hindi, Chinese people learn Mandarin, Malaysians learn Malay. Interesting, isn’t it? Can you image that in America? White people speaking traditional Irish to one another, Black people speaking Nigerian. That would actually be so cool.

Thank you, Lee-san for the meal! He paid for everyone at Okonomiyaki + got steak for everyone. It was so good! I’m sad that yesterday was literally the first time I ever talked to him because he is such a cool and loving guy. I hope his daughter likes his airport souvenir.

Okay. I’m gonna cry all night now over that voice memo. IT WAS SO GOOD I LITERALLY AM ABOUT TO CRY. じゃね...
