HUGS!
2026.04.10
Yesterday in class, our teacher decided to give us all hugs as we left. This was a very kind gesture but my shirt stank. I wonder what she thought of my stinky shirt.
JAPANESE WOMAN WATERPARK DREAM
I had a dream today that we were climbing up steep stairs but water flowed from the top so it was like rock climbing up a waterfall. This old Japanese woman at the top of the stairs was about to slip and fall, so I put out my hand for her but she ended up falling anyway. She was just laying in a puddle and I screamed out from the bottom of the stairs “can someone help this lady?”
My father helped her up. I somehow teleported to the top. Instead of saying “are you okay?” to this woman, he started making fun of her appearance by making references to some fantasy series named “Zorfelnon.” I didn’t know what he was talking about, but I could tell he was being mean by the inflections of his voice. My brother George too joined in against this woman utilizing references of Zorfelnon. I tried to defend her, but to my surprise the old lady began making fun of ME. I was thinking ‘wow. good deeds never go unpunished’ (or whatever the phrase is.) I was so sad.
A motif of my dreams is going to strange waterparks with my family. I’ll explain it some other time.
AFTER CLASS THOUGHTS
Anyway, I want to talk about my Japanese class today. It’s been going fine. The content we’ve learned so far is easy for me since I already took 日本語101 in college, but this class is going through that curriculum quick since it’s a three-hour class *GASP*. I know. I didn’t know it was a three hour class either. It’s okay since I really feel immersed now.
In class, the teacher only speaks in Japanese. I think I understand 50% of what she is saying. My friend Neu doesn’t understand well, so I translate for her. Translation is good practice for me.
Anyway, after class and after the stinky hug, me and Neu went to eat dinner together (yes, I am genuinely making a friend now, thank you everyone.) I asked her to please choose, and she brought us to this place where you grill fried steak on a stone slab. Last year, we went to a chain in Tokyo and it was pretty good.
Once we were sat, we conversed about class. Yesterday, we did a group activity and our group comprised of a German girl from Munich, a Taiwanese man, Neu, and I. At some point, we began conversing about our ages. The German girl and I are both 19. The Taiwanese man revealed that he was 33. Neu is 29. When Neu said that, we all were like “incredible!” since she looks so young. The Taiwanese man even thought she was 18. But then the guy said “きれいです” which means “beautiful,” so I assumed he was trying to hit on her. I looked over to her when he said that. She had the most blank expression ever.
In the steak place, she asked me “yesterday, did that guy say I was pretty?”
I said “oh yeah. You didn’t know?”
“I suspected it, but I just wanted to confirm with you.” We both were giggling at this point.
The reason why this was so funny was because after that class, we spoke to this woman named Emi-san. She asked if me and Neu were friends and I said yes. I noticed that Emi-san was talking to that Tawianese guy at the beginning of class, so I asked if they were friends and she said:
“no. he’s my husband.” Mind you, they were sitting at completely different tables at completely different seats.
“Why are you not sitting next to him?” I inquired.
Next, she looked at him disgustedly like he was some dirty stranger and said “him? No.” Neu and I began laughing. I did not scrutinize further, but after he made that comment to Neu no wonder why she doesn’t sit next to her own husband. LoL! It’s is all in good fun.
Then our food came. Here is what it looked like:
Look out for this weekend because I’m going to Osaka castle! Woohoo!!! じゃね!
